I am a recurring freelance writer for Business Insider's sponsored content section, Insider Studio. Here I'm assigned 600-800 word articles that promote certain programs, offer business advice, and tell stories as part of a larger ad campaign.

To craft these stories, I'm giving a theme, direction and some existing content supplied by the client from which I pull content and learn more about the topic. I then read and research as much as possible from additional sources to give me a more well-rounded understanding of the topic. Then I write and edit, and rewrite, and re-edit.


United Way United In Care -
Marketing Materials
Video Communications
As Communications Director for a United Way-sponsored child care pilot project, United In Care, I am in charge of writing and maintaining content on the website (with some basic web design skills). I am also responsible for developing communication tools to recruit home-based family care providers to participate in the project.
In the video here, I used our messaging to create an animated graphic in Canva to target new providers and added testimonial videos I filmed to add extra dimension to ad.
In the PDFs, you'll see a newsletter I designed and wrote for our project's health eating initiative, which is shared by program staff directly with parents.
Additionally, I am the project's editor. A major aspect of the pilot project is to track and document success and failures. I work with two freelance writers to craft stories about the programs impact. I then edit them and publish them our website and in a impact story layout.




McDermott + Bull CRE Thought Piece

I work quarterly with a recruiter from McDermott + Bull, a commercial real estate recruitment firm, to ghostwrite a 600-800 word blog post focusing on trends and insights into the hiring process for the commercial real estate industry. The collaborative process includes a brainstorming video conferencing session along with research, writing and editing. Once the final draft is accepted, the company's marketing team puts it into the distribution rotation.

These two pieces of sponsored content were part of a PR campaign created for Colliers, focused on property marketing. The pieces led to many potential lease opportunities and is still used by the broker team to promote the property.

I worked closely with the lead brokers, took personal tours of the building and even took photos that were used in the story to better sell the property.

Tasked with building the profile of David Amsterdam, who was in charge of Collier's National Capital Markets practice, I used funds to secure byline opportunities on the Forbes Real Estate Council. I brainstormed CRE topics with David and wrote them on his behalf.

Cheetos Back to School Giveaway
Spec Landing Page
I was tasked to create a website landing page for a Cheetos giveaway contest targeting college students. The intended result was to capture as many college student email address as possible by offering one winner "Cheetos" treats for the rest of the their college years. That giant prize would encourage many to enter. And the "Forward to a Friend" will capture even more entrants' email addresses. To create the deliverable I partnered with a graphic designer and photographer friend Jamie Panico.

As a journalist assigned to cover the one-year anniversary of Sept. 11, I took the assignment of writing a scene piece of the area around Ground Zero. What I discovered was a dichotomy of emotional and economic forces working both together and against each other.

A local bagel shop owner saw such demand for his product he began mailing bagels around the country. I was tasked with writing a letter that would be included in the package. I was to thank them and include reheating instructions. In addition to mail order, the bagel shop has three methods of ordering locally, and I was asked to describe them as concisely as possible. The intended audience were new customers who came in person and would not use online ordering and was therefore not included.

As Marketing Director for the Tri-State (NY/NJ/CT) region of Colliers International, I was tasked with managing the Twitter feed and crafting posts and collateral to share with the network. In the two years I was in charge, engagement went up 87% and several posts led to new business opportunities.
